New identification
After few attempts on our new logo we all agreed we prefer mono color and interesting shape. Our goal was to achieve elegant, recognizable logotype made of typography. You will never guess how bizarre things came up ;-). After few days of trying we decided to go into the hand writing direction. Several proposals were made but this was still not it… If you ever tried to make logotype for yourselves than you know what I mean.
After hours and tons of props Peter was drawing some sketches in PS and suddenly we knew this is it. There was a problem, because our first version of the logotype was drawn on tablet in 72 dpi in PS. We had the direction but what’s next? We put it into the Adobe Streamline, and made irregular vector shape. Then few hours playing with vectors in Illustrator with high zooms and we’ve got it. Funny thing - we tried to make it more regular but it lost it’s character, so we stayed with non perfect letters shape, just few lines and curves. It had a flow, it had character, it was elegant. Ars Thanea logotype came to life.
Couple of days later, together with Peter, we have made business cards which was quite easy after hours spent on logotype. We decided to go for black, simple shape with small cut under 2/3 of height. We printed it on Plike paper 330g. Effect you can check on photos above.
New office
We set up our office on Miodowa 23/17. It’s close to Old Town, full of trees habitant area. If you want to visit us give us a call.
New beginning
In our professional life we always try to make best we can. We will stay in this direction. Stay tuned.

While back, together with my good friend Jericó Santander, we did this collaboration for fun. Whole creation process took us about 2 weeks. Since it was personal stuff we had plenty of time, so we could work slower, try different things and experiment as much as we wanted. Here’s the effect. Hope you guys enjoy this one! There’s actually no message behind it, we just wanted to make it very nice when we’ll hang it on on the wall. Original size is fairly big so it will look sweet printed. Will post some more photos later on.

It’s quite common situation when you have to wait until couple of events will be dispatched before you can do “something that makes user to say wow”. I always used to use some flags variables to watch if all objects suspected to dispatch an event already did that but it was very confusing solution. So… I’ve just written this quite simple class to make that waiting much simpler.
To use it, all you have to do is something like this:
function foo ( e:Event )
{
trace ( "done..." );
}
var mel:MultipleEventListener;
mel = new MultipleEventListener ( SomeEvent.EVENT );
mel.addEventListener ( SomeEvent.EVENT, foo );
for ( var i:int; i < someList.length; i++ )
{
var obj:EventDispatcher = EventDispatcher ( someList[i] );
mel.addDispatcherObject ( obj );
obj.doSomethingAmazingAndThenDispatchEvent();
}
mel.init();
The class stores the information if an object already fired an event or not (it uses internal EventStatus class) so it may happen that just after init function MEL dispatches the event. That happens when all object has already fired their events before you used init function so you have to be sure that you listen to MELs event before you initiate it. But I hope it’s obvious for you. ;)

Tropical Toxic is a creative blog of two illustrators: Asaf & Tomer Hanuka. They show their work flow: from the idea, sketch, and final illustration. Really inspiring for all people who are into making drawings and illustrations.

Our friend sent me a link to a nice article about loading fonts into the SWF file. It’s quite useful feature if you often use multiple SWF files in your sites or applications. Check it out.

On August 21th Adobe released beta version of a new Flash Player 9, codename “Moviestar”. That name is not a coincidence. Besides many things that give you probably 1 FPS more in your animations (and I’m sure 99% of people never notice any difference ;) new FP is able to display video in HD format and many new file formats like MP4, M4V, M4A, MOV, Mp4v, 3gp etc. All this thanks to new H.264 video and HE-AAC audio codecs. Isn’t that great? ;)
