Rec You is a mini site for Sony Walkman campaign from NON-GRID in Japan. The whole idea is to record yourself while listening to music. The site is not yet finished but you can already see the Grid of people who, as I can understand, uploaded their photos. This is really cool Action Script stuff. You can also upload your photo (Send a Photo) but I have no idea if there is some way to get an url to your “recording”. If you figure it out give us a clue.

I wrote previously about more and more video and 3D usage in sites. This one is almost 100% interactive video. Promo site for the newest game from Ubisoft it’s a foretaste what you can experience in the game. Site is well executed without unnecessary content. Using keyboard user can unlock hidden content and information about the game. Nice work.

Launchball is an educational game made by Preloaded for Science Museum. User can play on three difficulty levels, create his own levels and share it with friends. Interface is clean and functional, it seems that they try to make it clear even for novice players. Game really sucks you into the world of physics. This is a great example that learning doesn’t have to be boring. Really nice work guys!

There were many speculations about next 10th major release of Flash Player, called “Astro”, especially related to 3D. Some people had said about hardware support and/or API based on Papervision3D. At last at Adobe Max 2007 there were shown some of 3D features (rotation of the plain, interactive object) of next gen Flash Player. It seems not so powerful as many excepted but this is very good direction, Adobe implements 3D techniques into Flash Player. Other new capabilities are related to better support for text rendering e.g. layouts (multiple text columns), bidirectional languages and new technology called AIF enabling custom filters and graphics effects written in special language - Hydra.

On the 1st of October at Adobe MAX 2007 in Chicago, new version of flash player for mobile devices - Flash Player Lite 3 was launched. It is based on Flash Player 8 desktop so it’s not huge leap compared to previous 2.x version. There is added support for FLV video format using both codecs Sorenson and On2 but without alpha channel. Now it can play streaming video from FMS but doesn’t support camera and recording. There were some performance aspects improved but it still lacks bitmaps, filters and focal gradients. Developer Edition will be available to download in November but you can submit an email to Adobe to get it earlier. There were also released Flash Lite 3 updates for Adobe Flash CS3 and Device Central CS3.

New site promoting Stella Artois beer. Site is divided on 5 mini games: End of The World, Dangers of the Forrest, Wrath of Gods, Battle of Good vs Evil and finally The Setting Sun. Each game is very well executed with a lot of motion and video. Another example of high budget production based on interactive video. Creative Agency: Lowe Worldwide.
