Geon is my another application made with Processing. This time I wanted to create something biological, organic, something similar to underwater creatures. By the way I learned a lot of advanced OpenGL techniques. My first thought was to create a few tendrils moving around one mutual point. At the beginning I draw a 3D lines. Then I used vector cross product to prepare a mesh, which consists of 350 points that define shape of object in 3D. Read the rest of this entry »

Black hole is an application made with Processing. I have been working on it for few last months.
Making it I had to learn some OpenGL and remind my math backgrounds, but I hope it was worth it. At the beginning I wanted to create a dark sphere with dynamic glow. Using a OpenGL substractive blending and simple math transformation I created a resizing glow similar to cloud or nebula. [Turn on the speakers please]

I recently stumbled upon some really dope vfx and audio work created by Theodor Groeneboom. Each work also has a pretty detailed description / study so you can get familiar with the processes over the creation of it.

Frantic Films Software, the software development arm of VFX studio Frantic Films, wanted to tell the industry that its high-volume point-based particle renderer Krakatoa was used by German post facility Unexpected on a recent commercial campaign for Snickers Russia. The two-spot effort via ad agency BBDO Moscow and Spy Films, Toronto, combines feature film-quality VFX with live-action to tell a story of biomechanical creatures that use Snickers

VideoTrace is a system for interactively generating realistic 3D models of objects from video-models that might be inserted into a video game, a simulation environment, or another video sequence. The user interacts with VideoTrace by tracing the shape of the object to be modeled over one or more frames of the video. By interpreting the sketch drawn by the user in light of 3D information obtained from computer vision techniques, a small number of simple 2D interactions can be used to generate a realistic 3D model. (via ACoVT). Outstanding idea. Enjoy watching.

We’ve heard a lot about Processing lately. This year OFFF in Barcelona and NY we could see how beautiful things can be created with processing. What this magic world really means?
Processing is (via Wiki) a programming language and integrated development environment (IDE) built for the electronic arts and visual design communities, which aims to teach the basics of computer programming in a visual context. One of the stated aims of Processing is to act as a tool to get non-programmers started with programming, through the instant gratification of visual feedback. It is a language that builds on the graphical side of the Java programming language, simplifying features and creating a few new ones.
Nervo TV (founded by Nando Costa) in cooperation with Barbarian Group did new identification for Fox Movies sci-fi and horror channel launched in Japan and Argentina. Based on combination of processing method and motion. It’s really something fresh and different. Combining math algorithms and graphic once again allow artists develop great results.
